In March 2017 the next SWICH workshop will take place at maa - museum of archaeology and anthropology, Cambridge (UK).
Collections from the colonial period, kept in the repositories of the participating museums are often presented as belonging to the past; they may be seen as controversial, because of their colonial associations, or as suffering from a lack of connection with the contemporary world.
In the light of recent exhibitions and ongoing re-display and museum renovation projects, this workshop will consider how historic collections can be most effectively re-animated for, and together with, audiences of the 21st century.
Watch out: in July 2018 the SWICH conference at maa Cambridge will be open for a broader public. The workshop in March 2017 is by invitation only.
