EXPO africamuseum@matonge2016

Following the success of its first edition, africamuseum@matonge is back!

Opening: 17 September 2016

Starting 17 September 2016, the Royal Museum for Central Africa joins forces with Matonge shopkeepers to offer you a selection of archive photos. They will be displayed on the windows of participating establishments, along with a new installation by artist Sammy Baloji in the indispensable Porte de Namur shopping gallery.

The vivid photographs were taken in major Congolese urban centres in the 1990s. Most of these archive documents show advertising frescoes created by painters to the glory of commerce and Congolese popular memory! The selection for africamuseum@matonge2016 joyfully announces the RMCA exhibition Congo Art Works. Popular painting to be held at BOZAR from 7 October 2016 to 22 January 2017.
