Reactivate! Objects and Identities is an exhibition project that put a new context to museum collections and exhibitions through self-ascribed identities.
The Museums of World Culture, Sweden worked with the first-year students (16-17 years old) of Järfälla High School’s aesthetic programme over a series of two workshops to discuss issues of identities. The students were then asked to pick one or more objects from an exhibition that embody their identity or identities in some way and create an artwork in response to the object(s) they chose. Visitors to the exhibition are also encouraged to experience a similar thinking process as the students, pick an object form the museum that relates to their identity or identities, and leave feedback in the exhibition.
